Our Organic Garden

Sixth class  students have been busy recently and have created a no-dig organic garden. They placed cardboard on the ground and used well rotted leaf mulch and compost mixed with seaweed fertiliser to fill the raised beds. So far they have planted beetroot, lettuce and peas with many more items to come.

 

 

 

School Hurling 2023

Our school hurling team made the long trip to South Offaly to take on Clareen NS in a challenge match last week. This was a great workout for our panel ahead of 4 group stage championship matches that are coming up shortly. Following the game we travelled to Kinnitty where our players had pizzas for lunch and visited the historic Kinnitty pyramid. All support for our championship games would be greatly appreciated.

 

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2023

We ran a hugely successful Seachtain na Gaeilge in our school this year. From line dancing and table quizzes to scavenger hunts and ceilis our students had a ball utilising our native tongue in so many fun activities. A huge thanks to Mrs Martin for her incredible work in organising so much of  the week.

 

World Book Day 2023

Our World Book Day activities were an absolute fantastic success this year. We had creative writing workshops, reading classes by senior classes to our younger children, a guess the mystery reader competition, a dress up as your favourite character day and many more events. Tag Rugby 2023

Our 3rd, 4th and 5th classes had a fantastic time at the Edenderry RFC tag rugby blitz for primary schools on February 24th. Lots of mucky jerseys and smiling faces.

 

Couch to 3k 2023

Massive congratulations to our 5th class students who completed their couch to 3k training today with a 3k run around Castleview. Absolutely fantastic effort by all the boys after 6 weeks of training. The following boys asked for their times to be posted on our website:

Upcoming Sports Events

Soccer training commences for 5th and 6th class on Wednesday February 15th during school time. Boots not needed as it’s on the court.

Hurling training starts for school panel on Tuesday February 21st from 3 to 4 on school pitch. Boots needed

Swimming Sessions begin for 3rd to 6th class on Monday February 27th. These cost €7 per session.

 

Vex Robotics 2023

Well done to Mrs Martin’s 3rd class who took part in the Vex Robotics programme which culminated in St Mary’s Secondary School on Monday 13th of February.

 

 

Coffee Morning & Bake Sale

You are welcome to join us on Tuesday 14th of February for our fundraiser coffee morning and bake sale which is being run by our amazing Parents Association. All proceeds will go towards subsidising school tours and activities.

 

 

 

World Book Day

We are delighted to announce that once again we will be celebrating a dress up day for World Book Day which this year is on Thursday March 2nd. We hope to see as many students as possible dressed up as one of their favourite book characters. Pictures from last year’s World Book Day are available to see in our Gallery tab. Many thanks to Mrs Johnston who as always acts as a fantastic co-ordinator for this event.

 

Futsal Training

We are delighted to announce that Futsal (Indoor Soccer) training will commence for our 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes towards the end of February. This will dovetail extremely well with our school soccer teams training for the FAI Primary School Competitions.

Open Evening 2023

Our school is holding an open evening on Tuesday 24th January from 4pm – 7pm. It will be a great chance to see the school, meet the staff and see our Junior Infant classroom ahead of enrolment which is now open. We are looking forward to meeting everyone on the day.

 

Couch to 3k

St. Patrick’s Primary School invite you to join us to participate in our couch to 3k programme for the next 6 weeks.

You are welcome to train with our pupils every Wednesday morning in Derry Rovers running track at 10am.
